Moon
Pendant
w/ Rainbow Moonstone
This pendant depicts a crescent or horned moon with a rainbow moonstone cabochon at its center. The pendant is decorated with Celtic knotwork and traditional Celtic swirl patterns. The 'Horns of the Moon' is a protective symbol that has been used as a defense against the evil eye since ancient times.
Measuring approximately 1" wide and 1" tall (without the bale), the crescent moon pendant is made of sterling silver. The pendant is single-sided.
Please note:
Because each rainbow moonstone cabochon is unique, the exact shade and hue of the stone may vary.
Symbolism:
Known as the 'Ship of Light on the Sea of the Night', the moon represents fertility, cyclical regeneration, immortality, and intuition. In most traditions the moon is a feminine power (the Mother Goddess and Queen of Heaven), and its influence controls the waters, the rhythm of plant and animal life, as well as the lives of women
. With its ever-changing form, the moon represents the cyclical nature of time. Its three distinct phases correspond to the triple aspect of the Goddess (maiden, mother, crone) as well as the phases of life itself. The three dark days of the moon symbolize the passage from life to death, and it was thought that the moon was the dwelling place of the honored dead. The moon's resurrection each month represents immortality and eternity through perpetual renewal. The moon is most often symbolized by the crescent or 'Horns of the Moon'. Drawing upon the powers of the moon goddess, the crescent moon is a powerful protective symbol.
Ruled by the Moon and linked to the element of Water, moonstone is sacred to all lunar goddesses.
Thought to be infused with the light of the moon, moonstone is used for divination and prophecy.
Moonstone is a protective stone and is often used in protective amulets.
Combining the protective powers of moonstone with the crescent moon, this pendant would make a great personal talisman or amulet.
Silver:
One of the 7 magical metals of the Ancients, silver is the
metal of the moon. Like the moon, silver is linked to the element of water and the Divine Feminine. With its reflective surface, silver acts as a mirror; and the metal is is associated with psychic powers and clairvoyance. Silver is a protective metal and is often used to make protective amulets.
