    Special Machlett low-temp diode boards
    Cooling system optimized to environment
    Improved Product Quality
Complete temper regardless of air holes or voids in the product
Temperature uniformity of finished goods +-1 degree F at 28 degrees F
Guaranteed temperature stability for a variety of different sized products
Taste improves due to the retention of protein and natural juices
Texture of the product improves due to the consistent and uniform temperature profile
Eliminates the traditional cold center produced from traditional tempering rooms
Greater control in the degree of temper, power and speed adjustments can be made to tune the process
Eliminates the effects of over and under tempering
Improved portion control providing consistent weight and slice thickness
    Production Savings
    Drip Loss savings of 5%-10%
    Elimination of warm water bath
Labor savings microwave tempering takes place in the carton, eliminates double handling
Carton is easily stripped after the tempering process
Energy savings due to the exact temper uniformity.
No extra cost of re-freezing due to over tempered product
Faster processing times. Microwave tempering done in minutes

Minimal loss of product in the event of a shutdown
    Cost Savings
{{detail_product_description}}.25 / pound less than conventional blast freezers
$.0033 / pound amortization of microwave tempering of only 1/3 cent /pound
One year payback with drip loss savings alone
Elimination of waste water disposal charges
The cost of building and maintaining a tempering room is eliminated
    95% floor space savings
Cost savings due to reduced cleanup time of less than one hour
Convert existing tempering space to other uses
    Machwave Technology
High efficiency microwave energy coupling into the product of greater than 95%.
This means all the energy produced from the microwave portion is used with little or no energy loss.
Computer controlled microwave power will maximize rates and balance power uniformity levels in the cavity.
Product doors provide optimum safety and protection.
6 kW up to 300 kW of microwave power at 915 MHz.
    Processing
No equilibration time required. Product can be processed directly out of the microwave.
Versatility - the system allows the processor to switch quickly and adjust production to meet daily needs.
Specific product profiles can now be dialed in for instant changes during production via computer controls.
The producer can now slice and grind to make delicate products.
    Bacteria / Spoilage
Reduces HACCP an E-Coli concern. Microwave tempering takes place in the box in minutes.
Bacterial growth reduced due to the short processing time of only a few minutes from freezer to production.
    Eliminates wastewater disposal concerns
    Low Maintenance
Maintenance costs compared to tempering rooms have shown the microwave costs to be less than 1/10 of 1%
Microwave system is virtually maintenance free.
The cavity system requires a simple rinse after production.
The Machlett team has extensive industrial microwave systems experience from both an engineering and maintenance perspective, providing the necessary background to design a transmitter that is optimal for any given application and plant environment.

    WHY MACHLETT FACTORY DIRECT?
Once manufactured by Machlett, vacuum tubes undergo exacting quality control measures to further assure reliability. Power tubes and megatrons are first mounted in test fixtures and burned in for 24 hours. This burn-in helps stabilize the internal operating parameters of the tubes before measurements begin. Each device is then tested and graded for technical characteristics specified by Machlett engineers. Only after a component successfully passes these exacting challenges is it labeled and put into stock to be sold.
The Machlett brand has a storied past. Founded in 1897 as E. Machlett and Son as a maker of scientific glass products, the company was a pioneer in the field of X-ray technology and collaborated with the likes of Madame Curie and other leading roentgenologists. Machlett LogoMachlett Laboratories was created in 1934 to produce X-ray tubes, and grew to become the world leader in the field.
Machlett's product line expanded to include transmitting tubes, and also did contract work for the Atomic Energy Commission. The company was acquired by Raytheon Manufacturing Company, as the conglomerate sought to increase its efforts in the area of microwaves. Raytheon had received a patent for a "high frequency dielectric heating apparatus" in 1945.
Raytheon expanded their military microwave technology into commercial applications, introducing a huge microwave oven for hotel and shipboard use in 1947. The Raytheon Industrial Systems division was formed in Waltham, Massachusetts and subsequently acquired appliance manufacturer Amana. In 1967 the "Radarange," the world's first microwave oven designed for home use, was enthusiastically welcomed by the general public.
As part of a parallel universe, Raytheon LogoPenta Laboratories, another tube manufacturer, was acquired by Raytheon in 1973 and the two operated as separate divisions. In 1988 Connecticut-based Machlett, which had manufactured magnetron tubes for Raytheon's microwave efforts, was sold to Varian and absorbed into the California-based company.
About the same time Penta spun off from Raytheon, becoming an independent entity. The company has become a primary manufacturer and distributor of a wide range of electron tubes, covering broadcast, industrial, research, military, medical and scientific applications. Penta LogoIts California facility is ISO 9001:2008 certified. Penta has affiliated manufacturing entities in Europe and Asia.
In recent years Penta acquired the Machlett brand, and has retained the services of a cadre of highly experienced personnel who trace their roots back to the Raytheon Power Tube division. Penta has reinvigorated Machlett's manufacturing and service operations. The company stands unique as the industry's only microwave systems manufacturer that supplies its own magnetrons.
