    Description

    Bronze
    Cernunnos Horned God
    Pentacle
    Pendant
This pendant depicts Cernunnos, the Horned God, combined with a pentacle or pentagram.  This depiction of Cernunnos was inspired by the Horned God appearing on the Gundestrup Cauldron, a silver cauldron dating from between 200 AD and 300 AD which was found in a Danish bog.  Cernunnos is seated holding a torc, the Celtic symbol of nobility, in one hand and a horned serpent in the other hand.  Measuring approximately 15/16" in diameter, the Cernunnos Pentacle pendant is made of bronze.  The pendant is single-sided.
    Symbolism:
Cernunnos is the Horned God of the Celts.  Often associated with 'Hern the Hunter'
    and the Green Man, Cernunnos
has come to represent the male side of Divinity in the Wiccan tradition.  Lord of the Animals and of Wild Places, Cernunnos is the god virility, fertility and abundance.  In his role as Lord of the Underworld, Cernunnos is thought to guide the souls of the dead to the Summerland where they await rebirth.
The pentagram (also known as a pentacle) is an ancient symbol of harmony, health, and mystical powers.
The five points of the star represent the five elements: earth, air, fire, water, and spirit.  In its upright position, the pentagram represents spirit ruling over the world of matter.  Also known as the 'Endless Knot',
the pentagram's unbroken configuration represents infinity and perfection, empowering it with the capacity to bind evil and attract good fortune.
Because of this quality, the pentagram is often used as a protective amulet.
    Bronze:
Bronze is an alloy of tin and copper.
Two of the magical metals of the Ancients, tin is the sacred metal of Jupiter and copper the sacred metal of Venus. Being a combination of both metals, bronze will combine the energies of both planets and the deities connected with them.  Because of its gold coloration, bronze also has a strong solar connection and can be used as a substitute for gold.  Being the dominate metal before the advent of iron (the Bronze Age), bronze is a faerie friendly metal.
