J. Paul Sports Promotions
, located in New York was one of the nation's foremost sports collectible show promoters, including the famous Robert Morris University show in Pittsburgh which is the longest running weekend show in the country at the same venue by the same promoter. (More than 20 years!) The show still runs today at the same venue by a different promoter.
J. Paul is the outgrowth of an auction business founded by Jeff and Elvira (Lizzy) Stogner in 1976. North Shore Auctions, Ltd. of Port Washington, NY gradually became totally sports related, and J.Paul Sports Promotions was incorporated in 1990. As president and vice-president of J.Paul Sports, Jeff and Elvira are involved in every aspect of the business. Lizzy’s Locker is a wholly owned subsidiary of J.Paul Sports Promotions, Inc.
Jeff has more than 50 years of experience with sports autographs as a collector, dealer, and show promoter. Over the years, J.Paul Sports has hired more than 100 Hall of Famers to sign autographs privately and at their shows, but the company is probably best known for their reunion shows, at which 25-30 players (some quite obscure) from the same team/era attend the show to sign autographs for the promoter and public. The most notable reunions were the 1960 World Champion Pirates in 1990, 2000 and 2010, the 1971 World Champion Pirates in 1991 with another coming in 2011, the Giants of the Polo Grounds in 1991, the Senators of Griffith Stadium in 1995, the Orioles of the 1950's in 1996, the Yankees of the 1950's in 1998, the 1979 World Champion Pirates in 1999, and the Steelers of the 1950's in 2003.
